Touching tribute to 'wonderful' teacher and mum Abi Fisher
Following the disappearance of a Pontefract school teacher and news of a murder investigation, the 'devastated' primary school has closed its doors for the day as a sign of respect as the staff and pupils cope with their grief.
West Yorkshire Police found a body believed to be that of Abi. A formal identification is yet to take place but police are treating it as a murder. A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Matthew Jones , the headteacher at Featherstone All Saints CofE Academy in Pontefract, has paid tribute to "enthusiastic" Abi - opening up about how "devastated" his cohort is feeling. The school has shut for the day as a sign of respect.
"In particular, her passion for science inspired countless children over the years – she made a real difference to so many lives.
