The carnival is renowned for squibbing, whereby a long row of squibbers line the high street and simultaneously light fireworks.

The carnival's entertainment and schools liaison officer Sarah Humphreys said: "The interest in our education outreach programme continues to grow in popularity, and it's lovely to see so many schools and nurseries taking part in this year's carnival mask initiative. "We hope by offering these exciting opportunities to local schools and nurseries, it engages and inspires young children to be the Carnivalites of tomorrow, and ensures our tradition continues for future generations to enjoy."
