This is the news so many glasses wearers have been desperate for 👓 Some very clever scientists in Zurich may have finally come up with a permanent solution to the annoying problem of your glasses fogging up.
freezing weatherResearchers from ETH Zurich have developed a new transparent gold nanocoating that harnesses sunlight to heat the lenses of glasses, thereby preventing them from fogging in humid conditions.
ETH Zurich has applied for a patent on the coating which could potentially also be applied to car windshields. It happens frequently in the winter, when people are coming in from the outside to warm buildings or vehicles, and now all year round, with masks that don’t form a tight seal around the wearer’s nose directing warm, humid air upwards as they exhale.

Ceramides found to be key in aging muscle healthDuring aging, mice, like humans, become inactive and lose muscle mass and strength. A team of scientists led by Johan Auwerx at EPFL have now discovered that when mice age, their muscles become packed with ceramides. Ceramides, known for their use in skin care products, are sphingolipids, a class of fat molecules that are not used to produce energy but rather perform different tasks in the cell.
