A woman who suffered acute kidney failure has been given a new lease of life after a living donation made possible by her mother and a stranger
.
The register aims to match up people in need of kidneys with those who are willing to donate across the country. If it weren't for her mum being willing to donate her own kidney so readily, Seyda would likely have waited longer to find a match herself. “I don’t know who donated their kidney to me, but I matched this angel. The early signs are good, I have a good kidney which will hopefully last me for the rest of my life. It’s just awesome, and I hope on some level they know what they’ve done for me.
“The only thing I can’t do with prosthetics is run, jump or walk too far, but I’ve learned to accept it. I would do anything to prevent having kidney disease because it was so hard.”Seyda's story comes as research has revealed that four out of five people would consider donating a kidney to a family member.
