Scotland's teacher strike to go ahead after latest pay offer described as an 'abject insult' 🔴 Thousands of children will face disruption to their lessons after a last gasp offer was rejected by the leadership of the EIS

EIS general secretary, Andrea Bradley, accused Cosla and the Government of simply “reheating” their previous offer and treating teachers with “contempt”.

“This offer is nothing less than an abject insult to Scotland’s hard-working teaching professionals,” she said. “This is not an improved, realistic, progressive or generous offer. Our members will see this offer for exactly what it is – a kick in the teeth.”further dates for industrial action expected to be announced in due courseThe Scottish Secondary Teachers Association , which is planning a strike on 7 and 8 December, also described the latest offer as “very disappointing”.

“This offer will not go down well with teachers and I would expect the planned strikes to go ahead,” a spokesman said. “Maybe they will listen to parents and children as they are not listening to teachers.” Members of the NASUWT teaching union also voted in favour of taking industrial action over pay on Tuesday, with 92 per cent saying they were willing to strike.
