More sun is on the way for Scotland this weekend with temperatures set to reach a sweltering 28C before thunderstorms roll in

As we head into the weekend, the weather will turn overnight on Saturday, as the high temperatures will trigger widespread torrential storms with heavy rain, hail storms, lightning and strong winds. "For most of the country it's dry and increasingly warm, or even hot. 27C or 28C will be the top temperature - places like Prestwick are likely to see the afternoon high.
