At the High Court in Edinburgh, he was sentenced to life and a minimum of 16 years behind bars before being eligible for parole.A witness told the trial how Sweeney and Jamie had rowed “about cans of beer or something” before the killer lunged at his victim.PC Gary Hutchison told how he found Jamie lying amid “pools of blood” and performed CPR on the victim, but he could not be saved.
Sentencing Sweeney, Lord Boyd told the fiend: “You left school without any qualifications and you have never had a job.He added that a social work report revealing the blade killer, also of Govan, didn’t go anywhere without a knife was “depressing”.
