He added: "I was still in Glasgow when an alert was issued about wildfires in Rhodes but despite this our flight still took off. Holidaymaker Carol Berry, 59, was also on the bus from Manchester Airport carrying 18 Scots. She had arrived on a TUI flight on Saturday for her nephew's wedding. She added: "There was an announcement over the speaker that people were being evacuated but our flight left anyway."My family have been split up on repatriation flights. There were about 80 of us -some have been taken to London for buses up to Glasgow or taxis."We were given a £10 food voucher by TUI but then didn't have enough time to use it. The last meal we had was in the dining hall on Sunday for lunch but food was really scarce.
Some people said they were forced to walk miles to escape the terrifying wildfires while others said they waded out into the sea and jumped onto boats to escape.
