Scots woman 'scared of losing beloved dog' if American XL bully breed banned
A Scots woman said she is 'scared of losing her beloved dog' if American XL bullys are banned following a spate of fatal attacks.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live, she said that some people have been too quick to place the blame on the dog rather than their owners. "Of course, these recent attacks are tragic. I feel awful that they happened to anyone. For example though, before one attack there’s video of this dog being punched and kicked by its owner. The dog’s in survival mode. That’s why it attacks."
She added: "It’s a minority of people who cause these problems but all XL bullys are being punished for it. This breed has so much pain in its the past. They’ve been puppy-farmed. They’ve had snipped ears so people can have more status and be feared by others. Mr Sunak says that the ban will come into force once more work has been done to identify the breed, which may prove a difficult challenge. The woman says that back-door crossbreeding has made the task much harder as there are so many breeds in the mix.
"It feels to me as though the government are just jumping into this policy to try and satisfy certain people on social media. It’s a parliamentary move to gain voters.
