Kate Jardine, from East Lothian, found a lump on the back of her neck and was later diagnosed with a brain tumour.

A Scots woman who was sent away by her doctor after suffering from headaches later discovered she had a brain tumour.

Kate's mum, Angela Paterson, 54, from Gullane, East Lothian, and grandmother, Joyce Paterson, 76, from North Berwick, abseiled down the UNESCO World Heritage Site for the charity Brain Tumour Research on Sunday October 8. Angela said: “My first reaction was one of anger because Kate had suffered strong headaches which had been dismissed by her GP. The anger turned to panic, not knowing what would happen next.
