Liberal MP Craig Laundy has told Scott Morrison he plans to quit politics but the decision has been kept secret while the Prime Minister finds a candidate to parachute into the seat.that the former minister – who was a strong ally of Malcolm Turnbull – had long ago decided not to recontest his marginal Sydney seat of Reid.
Mr Kaldas declined to comment on running for Reid, and Mr Laundy did not respond to inquiries. A spokesman for Mr Morrison indicated there were no developments regarding Mr Laundy since the Prime Minister last week promised to address the matter "when we're in a position to do that".Credit:There has been speculation about Mr Laundy's future since he quit the frontbench when Mr Turnbull was ousted in August. The two were close confidantes and political allies.
One member of the NSW Liberal Party's state executive said on Wednesday that Mr Morrison had turned out to be "one of the most interventionist" Prime Ministers the party had seen when it came to internal matters. Mr Morrison was state director of the NSW Liberal Party between 2000 and 2004.
