The top eight driving routes across Europe for an autumn road trip have been announced, and one spectacular Scottish Highlands passage has placed in the top three.
The eight most scenic drives in Europe this autumn have been revealed in new research, and a Scottish route is among those featured.
Coming in at number three on the list, and the only Scottish route included, is Invermoriston to Dornie in the West Highlands. The picturesque 43-mile stretch of road, which follows the A887 and A87, was singled out for having "some of the most breathtaking mountain scenery in Europe". According to the experts, the section of road that winds around Loch Cluanie and Loch Duich is "perhaps the most picturesque part of this drive, where reflections of red-hued leaves glisten on the water".
"Autumn is arguably the most beautiful season of the year, and it is also a great time to plan a road trip with the summer traffic jams a distant memory and the summer tourists now returned home.
