'Screaming' in the street and youths seen 'carted off' as mayhem breaks out after house party
Neighbours heard 'screaming' and saw youths 'carted off' after mayhem broke out in a Rochdale suburb. Residents say 'more than 100' people were seen causing chaos in Castleton on Saturday evening following a house party that 'got out of hand'.
"I don't know if they were scrapping on the green but there were police everywhere. It was chaos. It was just the noise of all the police and the sirens that drew my attention to it. One resident, living close to where the gathering began, said he was 'p***** off about it'. The group were seen spilling onto Charlton Street before being moved to Manchester Road.
Manchester Road residents said the ordeal lasted for a 'good long while'. Liz Ames, who lives on the street, said: "I heard the noise - I just thought it was a kids' party.
