Record View says the inhumane policy is costing the taxpayer millions which should be spent helping vulnerable people during the cost-of-living crisis
Sending vulnerable asylum seekers to Rwanda is yet another shameful policy from this out-of-touch Tory government. High Court judges may have ruled that Suella Braverman’s plan is legal but there is no doubt whatsoever about how cruel and inhumane it is.
Now Sunak and his Home Secretary are hellbent on making us the baddies of the world. Not only is this policy abhorrent, it is costing the taxpayer millions of pounds to send people on a one-way ticket to east Africa. On the day it was announced earlier this year, more than 400 migrants crossed the Channel and more have come over since then. It is unworkable, costly and inhumane, but it is straight out of the Tory textbook.
It’s plane wrong Christmas is a time when everybody wants to be surrounded by their families. So spare a thought for the Scots oil workers stranded on a rig in the Danish sector of the North Sea with just days to go until Santa arrives.
