The Liberal Democrats urged Rishi Sunak to convene a meeting of the government’s emergency planning committee, Cobra, to oversee the UK’s response afterLord Young told the deputy chief whip: “Some 30,000 [British] holidaymakers are booked to go to Rhodes over the next few weeks, and at the moment the FCDO is not advising people not to travel.
“The Association of British Insurers have said that unless the Foreign Office advises against travel there won’t be a great deal of policies that will help. “Is the Government really expecting families booked to go to Rhodes over the next few days to go ahead with their plans?”
