Serving Met Police detective charged with child sex offences

officer has been charged with child sex offences related to the alleged grooming of a girl he thought to be 13 years old. Detective Constable Francois Olwage, 51, from Stevenage, is accused of engaging with an online profile fitting the description, Hertfordshire Police said.The charges include meeting a girl under 16 years of age following grooming, and attempting to cause or incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity.
The other charges are attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and arranging/facilitating the commission of a child sex offence. DC Olwage was also suspended from his role in a Met Specialist Operations branch, which are responsible for counter-terrorism, security and diplomatic protection.Detective Chief Superintendent Donna Smith, of the Met’s directorate of professional standards, said: ‘The arrest of DC Olwage follows a comprehensive investigation by detectives from Hertfordshire Police and we will continue to offer them every support as their inquiries continue.
