Viewers of the hit Netflix comedy will know Aimee’s fan-favourite character Aimee Gibbs is dealing with the aftermath after she was sexually assaulted on a bus ride on her way to school back in season two.
Aimee was unable to make her usual trip to school, and season three follows her as she continues to feel the impact it made on her. The actress has now spoken about her experiences, and stressed that it was ‘really important’ to do justice to the storyline as there would be young viewers who could relate to the scenes.‘I felt very honoured to have been trusted with it but I [wanted to] make sure that I was telling the story through her,” the actress added.
Discussing the feedback she had received after season two arrived last year, Aimee said: ‘It’s just been a real kind of honour. It’s also just so amazing and moving to hear feedback from people and hear how much that storyline had an impact. It’s really, really special.’
