'She would lick my tears away': Dog rescued owner when tragedy shattered her world
The unconditional love of a pet can do so more than just keep us company. They’re always there for us when we need them, sticking by our side throughout the highs and lows of life.
“She would snuggle up to me when I needed it. She knew I needed comforting. I just felt so thankful during that time.” “She was a three-legged dog very happily running around,” Lisette added. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, if I was looking for a dog, she would be the one I’d want to choose’. Tragically, the 69-year-old passed away just before Lisette's plane landed. “He had health issues, but this came completely out of the blue,” she added.
Lisette stayed with family in the UK for three weeks before having to return to work in Dubai. “My mum told me I have a dog now and I needed to get back because she was waiting for me,” Lisette added. With the help of her cousin, Lee Brown, she decided to set up DoggyWarriors, a non-profit organisation raising money for dog charities and small rescue centres across the UK.
