The cost of living crisis is continuing to worsen in the UK, with the highest rate of inflation in more than a decade being recorded.

Its forecast is the latest grim warning about the hit on people’s wallets, after figures last month suggestedShop price annual inflation grew again from 2.1% in March and soared beyond the 12 and six-month average increases of 0.4% and 1.5%, according to the index. The increases on cooking oils and cereals is even higher, amid warnings that they will place further pressure on UK food prices as the issues filter through the supply chain over the coming months.
