Michael Delaney also stole a jacket from a different Lidl store
A prolific shoplifter waited two-and-and-half years to learn his fate after he stole from Lidl. The case against Michael Delaney, 34, of HMP Ranby, Retford, started life as two allegations of robbery.
Nottingham Crown Court heard, as he was finally sentenced on Wednesday , he stole meat and household items worth £150 from the Daybrook Lidl on January 27, 2021, and a jacket costing £14.99 from Lidl, Mansfield Road, - but was stopped by security and the jacket recovered on February 10 the same year.
"The Crown has now accepted that these are properly charged as thefts, not robberies". The charges were not coupled with the 20 other allegations in June 2021 as a consequence.
