. We Brits love a good sarnie and there are infinite fillings to spice things up.
For the bulk of sandwiches, they're all done on a machine-operated assembly line by robots. To start with, we're told that the "fresh bread is loaded into automated machines, whilst being inspected," as a man loads several loaves of bread into the machine ready to be buttered, removing any with holes or flaws in. Then it will move along the production line, reports The Mirror.
But, if they are specific fillings made to order, these will be made by hand. Workers are seen to fill the sandwiches on conveyor belts. As they add 'cold cuts or grated cheese by hand' they then close the sandwiches over themselves, before hand placing them into the sandwich cartons instead of machines doing it.
