Bonfire Night is not far away - but there's a big debate around if fireworks should be banned outside of professional displays
Bonfire Night is approaching and while many will be excited for fantastic firework displays, others may be feeling anxious, especially if they have pets.
Thousands of people across Lancashire and Cumbria are expected to attend displays in November, with organised events taking place in several cities and towns including Lancaster, Blackpool, Ormskirk, Blackburn, Chorley, and more. One event expected to be popular this year is the Fireworks 500 Challenge, which will combine open water swimming and fireworks.
Some may be planning to swerve organised displays and instead celebrate Guy Fawkes Night at home with their family and friends by letting off rockets from their own gardens. But some people will be dreading November 5 due to the loud bangs and the distress they can cause for both humans and animals.

Let us know in our poll below.Currently, the law states that it is against the law for anyone to set off fireworks between the hours of 11pm and 7am, but there are some exceptions to this rule. Fireworks can be let off until midnight on Bonfire Night, and 1am on New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year.
You also can't buy fireworks if you're under the age of 18. You can be fined an unlimited amount and imprisoned for up to six months for selling or using fireworks illegally. You could also get an on-the-spot fine of £90.
