An audiologist has shared the professions where people are most likely to experience permanent hearing damage, as National Protect Your Hearing Month rolls around in October.

The study revealed that emergency service workers were most at risk of damaging their hearing while at work, due to the loud sirens that indicate people they are heading to an emergency. Up next were tree surgeons - think about how loud a chainsaw is - and then DJs, labourers, paramedics, farmers and electricians.

"Untreated hearing loss has been linked with depression, anxiety and conditions such as Alzheimer's, primarily because it can increase isolation and make social interactions more challenging.
