Emergency services remain at the scene
Fire crews remain at the scene of a blaze that has torn through a Rutherglen building during the night.
The blaze was called in just after 11pm on Thursday evening, with the Scottish Fire and Rescue service working through the night to tackle the inferno on King Street with six appliances at the scene as well as two aerial appliances. Nearby flats have also been evacuated as a safety precaution. Glasgow Live have been told that the building on fire is allegedly the Royal Burgh House, with one witness claiming that the 'roof of the building has collapsed in'. The force said: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at a fire on King Street, Rutherglen, following a report around 11.30pm on Thursday, 13 October, 2022. King Street is currently closed in both directions and Farmeloan Road is also closed to the junction with Alleysbank Road.""We quickly made it a level two response with six appliances and two aerial appliances.This incident is ongoing, more as we have it.
