Bombs exploded at Brussels Airport and on a metro train passing through the city's European quarter in attacks claimed by Islamic State.The attacks, on 22 March 2016, were the deadliest in Belgium since the end of the Second World War.

The French sentenced him to life without parole, but allowed Abdeslam, along with four others, to be transported to Belgium so they could again face justice.Four others on trial were acquitted or facing other charges.
