He said the DoJ “took possession of materials it deemed within the scope of its inquiry, including six items consisting of documents with classification markings and surrounding materials, some of which were from the president’s service in the Senate and some of which were from his tenure as vice-president”.The prosecutors also “took for further review personally handwritten notes from the vice-presidential years”, he said.Classified documents are declassified after a maximum of 25 years.
A second batch of papers was found in that garage at his Wilmington home on 20 December, while another record was seized from a storage space at the address on 12 January, according to his lawyers.
