A former soldier has been jailed after he was caught trying to take cocaine wraps into a family music festival while on licence from prison
. Aaron Diplock was arrested after sniffer dogs caught him trying to bring a stash of drugs into the In It Together festival in Port Talbot's Margam Park, Wales.
Diplock had thrown the drugs to a friend before attempting to flee but later admitted his friend had "nothing to do with it" and when cautioned he replied, "yeah, sound". He subsequently answered "no comment" to all questions asked in an interview. Top news stories today The court previously heard he had been discharged from the Royal Logistic Corp on medical grounds following a serious road traffic accident while on leave which left him with a broken pelvis. He was discharged at age 19 after enlisting when he was 16.
Mr Pulling, who represented Diplock, told the court: "Beyond the defendant himself, the most disappointed person in this courtroom is his mother. She has written a heartfelt and moving letter on his behalf and is present in court.
