The Rangers legend claimed “SNP fans” had helped drown out the away side's anthem at Hampden and were “out of order”.
Ally McCoist has clashed with the SNP after he blamed Nat supporters for booing God Save the King during a friendly with England.He said: “We need a political discourse based on facts not unproven allegations.”
McCoist, who won 61 caps for Scotland, blasted: "I get the rivalry with England and Scotland, and I get some of the Scots, perhaps SNP fans giving it the whole bit, but I am talking about in general. There should be respect shown for an opposing national anthem and I think it is totally out of order."
He was then asked if he was singing God Save the King on the gantry. And he bluntly added: "Actually I was. Because I am British, you got a problem with that?" He also said God Save the King is “controversial”, adding that it was maybe time for the football team to adopt another anthem.
