A court martial has heard how a soldier repeatedly grabbed a female sergeant’s bottom after introducing himself as ‘Vera Duckworth’ from TV’s Coronation Street.

L/Sgt Peter Duckworth, of the Coldstream Guards, was repeatedly spotted ‘lurking’ behind the soldier on the dance floor at Mount Pleasant base on the Falkland Islands. He had earlier introduced himself as ‘Vera Duckworth’, which he said was his nickname based on the classic character in the ITV soap.
