South Ribble organisations and community groups are being urged to express an interest in a government initiative to expand the installation of defibrillators

.The Department of Health and Social Care initiative is building on the work of the Government, NHS and others to improve survival rates from out-of-hospital heart attacks.

Latest research showed that accessing these devices within three to five minutes of a cardiac arrest increases the chance of survival by over 40 per cent.Read more:South Ribble MP Katherine Fletcher said: ““I hope local groups will take a look at this initiative and come forward to look at having more of these life-saving devices in our South Ribble communities.

“Town halls, community centres, local shops, post offices and local parks are all good places to have one as well as sports grounds and clubs. “At the moment all a group needs to do is fill out an online form to express an interest and once the DHSC has picked its partner, distribution of funds should progress, if match funding or a contribution is in place.Any groups interested can complete the
