Skygazing Shropshire residents were in for a real treat last night as a rare blue supermoon arched across the sky.
The full moon last night was special for a couple of reasons, being both 'super' and 'blue'.
A supermoon occurs when the full moon phase syncs up with the point of the moon's orbit when it is closest to the Earth - meaning it appeared slightly larger than usual.Graham Mitchell took this one of the bright moon over Oswestry Falling short of the 365/366 in a calendar year means every two and a half years or so, a 13th moon is seen.
