The SPFL & SWPL will support the charity's appeal to aid those in urgent need.

The SPFL and SWPL have released a joint statement pledging to support the British Red Cross' emergency appeal to give those in urgent need aid during the Israel and Palestine conflict.

Both governing bodies confirmed they will be supporting the campaign and that they will be encouraging teams to wear back armbands during the weekend fixtures to show solidarity with those affected. Reports state that over 1400 people have been killed in Israel and 3000 in the Gaza strip, with thousands more injured.

The statement read:"Given the terrible events of the past two weeks in Israel and Palestine, our thoughts are with all those who continue to suffer from this enduring conflict."We will be suggesting to our clubs that they use black armbands this weekend, as a show of humanitarian support for those affected by the conflict."Readers’ comments: You are personally liable for the content of any comments you upload to this website, so please act responsibly.
