Antonio Conte has repeated his call for “patience” over the return of Dejan Kulusevski from injury, and raised the possibility of sticking with 3-4-3 this week even with Kulusevski and Richarlison both out injured. More from JackPittBrooke
Kulusevski has now missed five games with a hamstring injury picked up on the last international break, and his return to playing has been delayed following a setback last Thursday.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon, Conte said Spurs have to go “day by day” with Kulusevski and refused to put a timeline on his return to the team, other than saying he hoped to have back “very, very soon”.trip to Manchester United on Wednesday night. But he promised that he would not rush the player back and risk another setback.
“We have to go day by day with him and the medical department are working a lot to try to recover him,” Conte said. “But at the same time, sometimes there are situations that you have to go a bit slowly. And not to accelerate the process. Because sometimes if you accelerate the process, you risk only to worsen the situation. For this reason, we need to have patience.”
