Schools are increasingly giving pupils a two-week break in October, despite warnings that it could harm efforts to help children catch up on lost learning in the wake of the pandemic.Headteachers say the longer break at that time of year is necessary for the “mental health and wellbeing” of teachers, and also allows parents to book a cheaper holiday outside of the peak half-term period.
