The city will take part in a trial aimed at cutting anti social behaviour on trains and buses.
Transport safety officers will be patrolling buses and trains in a bid to reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour.
Anne Shaw from Transport for West Midlands said the fear of violence and intimidation on public transport was a barrier for some people, especially women.The first recruits are expected to start in the new year, the DfT said.The TSOs are able to issue fixed penalty notices for antisocial behaviour, but it has not yet been confirmed how many will be employed in Stoke-on-Trent.
