The man was seen being stretchered off
Neighbours on an Eccles street were horrified to see police tape going up outside their homes before seeing a man being rushed to hospital. Police and paramedics descended on Higher Croft this afternoon .
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a man being taken from Higher Croft into an ambulance on a stretcher before 2pm. A resident told the M.E.N. that around an hour earlier, he saw the man being hit by a car with a 'group of youths' inside. The episode then took a violent turn, he claimed. "I just saw some youths in a car," he said.
“He got his leg out and then one of the youths got out the car and brandished a knife that was in a case, like a holster." The resident said the car was then pushed along by one of the youths as it 'wouldn't start', before the group managed to escape. "I looked out the window and there was an ambulance and loads of tape. About five minutes later they brought somebody out... he was on a stretcher."
