'We shouldn't see this as anything particularly unexpected or alarming.' Specialist in pediatric infectious disease, Professor Adam Finn, tells @FatimaManji we should be 'vigilant' to the threat of Strep A but says the organism' is around all the time.'

Health authorities are continuing to investigate cases of Strep A, after confirming that six children in England and Wales have died from the infection since September – an unusually high number.

The UK Health Security Agency says there’s been a rise in cases this year, particularly in children under 10.
