StrictlyComeDancing’s oldest contestant Angela Rippon’s life off-screen
With Strictly Come Dancing’s 21st series just weeks away from hitting our screens, the long-running dance show is set to welcome its oldest ever contest, Angela Rippon.
"Having been a fan of Strictly since day one, and as a former presenter of Come Dancing, this will be quite an adventure for me," Angela told fans. In fact, it wasn’t until 1947 when she was three years old that she was able to meet him for the first time when he returned from the conflict. This lead to her becoming a reporter for BBC news, a job which saw her present her first national news programme on BBC in 1974, 8 years after first beginning her TV career.
“When I read the Nine O'Clock News, I kept my brain active by working on programmes like Antiques Roadshow , Top Gear and In the Country.”
