BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans call out 'pointless' element to the final and say it should be 'binned'
Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to call out a 'pointless' element of the show as they tuned into the live final. After three months of watching multiple dances and seeing the couples whittled down from 15 to four, it was finally time for the big ending of the BBC One dance competition.
Each of the celebrities and their professional partners - Carlos Gu, Vito Coppola, Gorka Marquez, and Jowita Przystał - were tasked with performing three times in the final. While the judges chose which of their routines they wanted to see again, the couple's could also choose their favourite dance from the series and lastly, there is the all-important showdance where they can show off everything they have learnt throughout the series.
Wildlife cameraman and presenter Hazma opened the show on Saturday with his professional partner Jowita with a lively and energetic performance of the judges’ pick routine of the salsa to Ecuador by Sash! featuring Rodriguez. The 32-year-old, who topped the leader board in the live semi-final, received standing ovations from judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse after he performed the dance once again with stunning lifts.
Radio host and singer Fleur and Vito followed with a samba to Hot Hot Hot by Arrow as their judges’ pick. The singer, 35, received widespread praise from the judges for the colourful and lively performance. And TV presenter Helen and dacner Gorka performed the jive to Tightrope by Janelle Monae at the request of the judges. The 39-year-old received standing ovations from Motsi and Shirley for the slick and fast dance.
