France's defence ministry has released pictures of an operation to evacuate citizens from the capital of Sudan.
Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy has commended the UK's"brave armed forces" who have evacuated UK diplomats and their families from Sudan.More than 1,200 British personnel from 16 Air Assault Brigade, the Royal Marines and the RAF were involved in theMr Lammy tweeted in response to a message from his government opposite number, James Cleverly:"Grateful for the brave armed forces personnel who undertook this operation. "Very concerned about UK nationals still in Sudan.
We asked him about the British nationals who are still in Sudan, having not been included in the initial rescue of diplomats and their families. Earlier, Sky News spoke to a British civilian in Sudan named William, who said:"We're getting absolutely no help at all [from the Foreign Office]."What I need most is to hear that there is a plane somewhere outside of Sudan already, and as soon as the airport [in Khartoum or maybe one just up to the north] is secured… that plane will come swooping in, we'll get a message saying get to this point and then we'll get on the plane and we'll fly home.
"I would say to British nationals in the region please register with us. We have circulated a link so we know who is there, where they are so if an opportunity arises we can find a way of helping them."
