The ban on building new onshore wind farms will be lifted and communities which host them could get discounted energy, the Government has announced in a major concession to Conservative rebels.
Now Michael Gove, the Levelling Up Secretary, has confirmed a compromise deal which will allow new onshore wind to be built in areas where local communities have expressed their consent. Areas whose populations agree to new turbines may get discounted energy bills to compensate them for the inconvenience.
