Two people were taken to hospital
Two people have been injured following a suspected hit and run in Nottinghamshire. On Sunday, July 23, emergency services were called to North Gate, Newark, after several cars were involved in a collision near the Maltings Retail Park.
The incident happened shortly after 11pm and resulted in a man and woman who were travelling in one of the cars being taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The driver of another vehicle involved had left the scene before Nottinghamshire Police arrived. Several other cars were also damaged which had been parked near the junction with Meyrick Road.Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw a car travelling at high speed in the moments before the collision. Detective Sergeant Andrea Brown, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a serious road traffic collision that left two people in hospital.
"We are working to understand what happened in the moments leading up to this collision and to identify the driver, who left the scene as emergency services arrived. To this end we would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the moments leading up to this collision. "We would particularly like to speak to anybody with dashcam footage of a car being driven at high speed in the area yesterday.” Anyone with additional information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 718 of 23 July 2023.
