The new Darwen restaurant where girls with a certain name are treated like royalty
"Darwen is the place to be and the community is amazing," says Naz Islam who has just opened the town's newest restaurant.
"Darwen is like nowhere else, the people are amazing, and we wouldn't be doing so well if it wasn't such a close-knit community," he told LancsLive. "We've had amazing reviews and because of word of mouth we're so busy now we're fully-booked at weekends."Naz named Freya's Grill after his 11-month-old daughter and, during his interview with LancsLive, one family revealed they had decided to visit because of the name.
"I saw this place was available; I'd always fancied doing something a bit different and I've always worked in hospitality and managed a lot of restaurants in Lancashire. I said to my wife 'you know what? I'm going to open a restaurant and name it after Freya and serve the food I like'." The menu at Freya's Grill includes seafood, peri-peri chicken, hot dogs, kebabs, stir fry and plenty of spice. The restaurant's signature green chilli dipping sauce is so popular that customers ask to take a tub home with them at the end of their meal.
