Bobby Bridges' dream is to make it in the NFL
Bobby Bridges from Oswaldtwistle is one of the last 11 boys competing for a spot at the National Football League Academy in Loughborough. The 16-year-old GB Lion will go to live there in October and will play across the globe if he is selected after trials.
“We are so proud of him. He has worked really hard. We have made friends all over the country with his football. Bobby says his step-dad has been a massive inspiration and role model to him and he wouldn’t be where he is without him. He also followed in the footsteps of his elder brother, Owen, who also played quarterback at the Chorley Bucanneers and for the Lancashire Bombers.
He trains with Russell at his gym called Tempest training Athletic development on Haslingden Old Road most days and has worked extremely hard on his fitness and technique. Russell said: “Bobby has amazed us all. He has gone from a lad that had no interest in coming to the gym and getting strong to now pestering me daily to train him.
