The teenager was arrested after the pursuit
Officers spotted a suspected stolen motorbike, at around 8.50pm on Thursday, August 24. Patrols watched the motorbike turn on to Hawksmoor Road from Copplehouse Lane, Fazakerley, and attempted to flag it down.
The motorcyclist drove away from police and there was then a pursuit. Residents in the area reported that a police helicopter was also also used in the chase.The suspect later stopped him on Formosa Drive, where he got off the bike and ran from officers. A 16-year-old boy, from Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Darren Taylor said: "Thankfully no one was injured during this dangerous incident on our streets and I would like to thank our officers for their brave actions. Using or riding such vehicles in this manner is reckless and causes great fear in our community. "Therefore I hope this arrest shows how committed our local officers are in removing anyone who uses such vehicles in this way on our roads and the action we will take to make Merseyside a safer place to live and work.
