A teenage killer stabbed a young man in the heart during a row.

Steven Gilmour was just 17 when he fatally attacked Daryll Wright at a flat in Kilwinning, Ayrshire on May 22 2021.Gilmour - now 18 - faced a murder charge at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday.But, the first offender - via his KC Donald Findlay - pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of culpable homicide, which was accepted by prosecutors.The hearing was told a number of young men and women had gathered at the house in Kilwinning.

Miss Leanne Cross:"Both ended up on the floor. After being on the floor, Gilmour was seen to get up and back away.Gilmour dropped the weapon and fled the scene.The victim was described as being in a"bad way". A girl was heard screaming as she raced to help him.Daryll was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.The young man went on to suffer a heart attack and ended up in intensive care.The fatal wound had penetrated the front of Daryll's heart.
