Mother, May I? is described as 'a nightmarish game of therapy'.
Scored by some tense music, we see Roden's character Anya start to look and act like a "different person", seemingly secretly injecting her partner during a hug, intercut with scenes of insects and footage on a TV screen of Gallner's character Emmett as a child. It all builds up to him asking, "Are you my mother?"
The official synopsis makes what we see in the trailer a bit more straightforward, reading: "Emmett enters into a nightmarish game of therapy with his wife Anya, who has inexplicably taken on the persona of his estranged and recently-deceased mother. "Bizarre and creepy in equal doses, this psychological thriller will keep you guessing if this is truly possession or just a twisted battle of wills."
