An inquest opened at Nottingham Council House into the death of George Sims
A Nottinghamshire teenager died of "multiple injuries" after a crash, an inquest has heard. George Sims, who was 19 years old, died after a crash in Newark on May 18, 2023.
Gordon Clow, assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, opened the inquest into his death at Nottingham Council House in Old Market Square on Wednesday, August 30. Mr Clow said the teenager had died on Sutton Avenue in the Nottinghamshire town. The coroner explained a post mortem had been carried out, which recorded a provisional cause of death of "1A - multiple injuries". The inquest heard George was identified by his father at Queen's Medical Centre on May 19, who confirmed this to an attending police officer.
Mr Clowes adjourned the hearing for the completion of further inquiries and stated it would be resumed for final hearing on November 6. "It just remains for me to pass on my condolences and my best wishes to the family and friends of George Sims for his loss at such a young age," Mr Clow said.
