Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has claimed he is on the 'drivers' side' as part of a fightback against congestion charges and low emission zones in cities across the country. Mr Sunak told Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to 'think' twice over his plans to expand the Ultra Low Emission Zone across the whole of London.
Mr Khan won a court case last week after five councils tried to block his plans to expand Ulez across all of London. Mr Sunak said the vast majority of people are dependent on their cars and that “anti-motorist” policies fail to take account of how 'families live their lives'. But with thousands of motorists facing heavy traffic on their daily commute up and down the country, what can be done to reduce the number of cars on the road? And what specifically can be done to ease traffic in Nottingham?London's Ulez operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year except Christmas Day. If drivers' vehicles don't meet the emissions standards and isn't exempt, there is a £12.50 daily charge.
