Set up during the pandemic to publicly distribute antigen tests, Newfoundland already provides Tesco with testing kits forUnder the new deal, these products will be expanded to include means of testing for iron and vitamin deficiencies, kidney dysfunction, thyroid issues, bowel problems, male infertility, and the menopause.
Newfoundland say they are also currently discussing partnerships with other major national retailers and pharmacies. She said: ‘They can, of course, provide some peace of mind for patients – and for relatively minor conditions, with clear and easy to access treatment options, they may avoid the patient having to seek medical assistance.
‘In the case of more serious conditions, such as cancer, people may not have the appropriate support in place to deal with what could be very distressing news.’ Professor Kamila Hawthorne of the Royal College of GPs warns that home testing kits are something of a mixed bag when it comes to pros and cons
